  8. and multimedia "content" (images, clipart, sounds, music, etc.) in this suite is absolutely
  9. one of the best values available in the industry today. This online document is divided into

  87. Home@Office Suite may be used to create the elements that will ultimately make up your
  88. project. Layout a newsletter, design its logo and import it, convert an image file into
  89. a new file format, morph it and then import it too, select one of a hundred different 
  90. fonts, display it page by page on your screen while music plays behind, add sound 
  91. effects to emphasize important points and so on.

  228. Graphic File Conversion  *Conversion Artist Win 95 & Win3.1 by North Coast Software

  230. This multiple award-winning program converts over 35 different photographic and line art
  231. image formats. With Conversion Artist it is possible to exchange just about any type of
  232. graphic file format you create with any of the programs in this pack and import them into
  233. any other application. You can view multiple images simultaneously, convert in groups,
  234. print, edit images, JPEG compress, unrivalled color-reduction, powerful color
  235. enhancement, read and play AVI files, employ a variety of image effects, screen capture
  236. and convert file formats between different computing platforms including SUN, Silicon
  237. Graphics, Macintosh, OS/2, Unix and Amiga. Converts BMP, GIF, TIFF, WPG, CUT,
  238. MCP, TGA, PCX, PCT, IMG, PCD, EPS and many more.

  240. TIP: This program is particularly useful when you want to make use of the extremely high
  241. resolution of a 32-bit (CMYK) TIFF image file from one of the photo collections. Most PC
  242. applications do not support this high a level of resolution so you could import this file into
  243. Conversion Artist and then save it as a 24-bit RGB TIFF file, which is supported by just
  244. about everything. The resulting file will have a great deal more "information" in it (perhaps
  245. 9-12 MB each) then the usual 24-bit RGB TIFF files (about 1.2 MB) in the collections.

  247. However, you really only need this type of resolution if you are going to magnify a very
  248. small part of the image to full screen size or if you want to print to a printer that can handle
  249. this amount of detail.

  255. Photo Image Manipulation           PhotoStudio by Arcsoft

  257. This easy-to-use and powerful photo image manipulation, editing and retouching
  258. application features an album manager, screen capture, slide presentation, over 30
  259. different visual effects, customizable tools, 50 bitmapped seamless tile textures, 200 photo
  260. images and support for a variety of different file formats. Acquire images from TWAIN
  261. scanners, video grabbers, etc., organize images in convenient thumbnail groups, display
  262. selected images in pre-determined, timed presentation sequences, zoom in to fine details,
  263. perform image enhancement, color correction and special filter effects and get help from
  264. the comprehensive online manual.

  266. TIP: Use this program to crop (cut away portions of)  photographic images to your
  267. document's size requirement. correct colors that are off or accentuate a feature. Add
  268. effects like blur to suggest speed or use a filter to create the impression of an oil painting.
  269. Scan in a photograph of your product using PhotoStudio and then touch it up. This
  270. application does not support 32-bit CMYK TIFF files so you must use Conversion Artist
  271. first to convert the 32-bit file into a 24-bit file (if you want very migh resolution) or use the
  272. supplied 24-bit RGB TIFF files instead.

  278. MIDI & Wave File Manipulation           *Sound Impression by Midisoft

  280. Sound Impression is the ultimate sound production environment for creating, editting, and
  281. integrating .WAV, MIDI, and CD audio formats. Record from CD or MIDI to .WAV, add
  282. music to voice tracks, add special effects and edit any size .WAV file, build voice-overs,
  283. mix .WAV files for multi-track compositions, view and play MIDI files as music notation,
  284. edit MIDI notes and events with your mouse, remove noises, hisses, silence (or add silence)
  285. etc., produce voice, music and sound effects for OLE 1.0-compliant applications like word
  286. processors, spreadsheets, etc., synchronize playback of MIDI, .WAV and CD Audio, and
  287. much, much more.

  289. TIP: Pick one of the wave files from The Music Works! collection. Add an echo effect or
  290. link it with a "bridge" piece. Then copy it and attach it to the end of itself so that the track
  291. loops. Or record your voice for your presentation and store it as a new .WAV file. Use the
  292. built in timer to cut either file to the exact length for your presentation. Pull the new piece
  293. into Harvard Graphics and use HG's slide show feature to link the wave file to the timing
  294. of one or more of your "slides". Play a MIDI file while also playing the .WAV file so that
  295. your voice is heard over the background (MIDI) music. Clean up the noise, hissing and
  296. scratches of that otherwise perfect recording.

  302. Multimedia Browser & Manager            *Pixfolio by Kempe

  304. PixFolio is a multimedia file browser and manager that allows you to manage a variety of
  305. graphics, video, sound, and music  formats in multiple catalogs. Supported graphics formats
  306. include BMP/DIB, EPS, FLI/FLC, ICO, IMG, JPG, MAC, PCT, TIFF, WMF, WPG, AVI,
  307. MID, MOV, PCD, WAV and others. PixFolio builds catalogs of multimedia files that may
  308. reside on different disks. The catalog can be searched and files easily located. Thumbnails
  309. are displayed for images, and generic bitmaps represent sound and video file formats.
  310. Pixfolio also includes the ability to read an image in one format and to save it to several
  311. other types (somewhat like Conversion Artist although CA has many more supported file
  312. formats. Pixfolio is found on most Aztech CD-ROM image collections.

  314. TIP: The image catalogs for most of the Aztech CD-ROM image collections have already
  315. been created. Some of the later collections allow you to view all these catalogs from the
  316. respective CD. However, if you have extra HD space you might want to copy all the
  317. catalogs to your pixfolio directory. You will then have instantaneous access to hundreds of
  318. high quality photographs. Then create a catalog of all your wave files (don't forget The
  319. Music Works! and Sound Pro collections) as well as any MIDI files you may already own.

  339. Virtual Word is a full-featured, powerful word processor that fully interates with Gridworks
  340. (spreadsheet), Check-Mate (spelling checker), Word-Morpher (thesaurus) and
  341. Renaissance Grapher (spreadsheet graphing). . Access all your Windows fonts and sizes,
  342. add effects like bold, underline, etc., import .BMP images, super- and subscripting, text
  343. alignment and line spacing, pagination, search and replace, maintain detailed information
  344. about each document, and much more.

  346. Virtual Word is a professional quality, full featured, easy to use Windows 3.1 or 95 word
  347. processor. Virtual Word has all the basic features you require to do most any basic
  348. document including graphics support, print preview, multiple level undo's, Windows cut
  349. and paste, block moves, multiple margins, color printers, search and replace, True Type
  350. and printer fonts (with size and multiple color support!). Bold, Italic, Underline,
  351. Strikethru, Superscript and Subscript, etc. Margins may be set for left, right, center and full
  352. justification.

  354. Using Virtual Word, you will be able to create professional quality word processing
  355. documents with ease. Virtual Word is a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) word
  356. processor. This significantly simplifies creating documents, since your screen always

  369. The GridWorks Spreadsheet is a powerful, full featured spreadsheet that is compatible
  370. with most features of Microsoft's Excel version 4.0. Most controls and menus work with the
  371. same look and feel as Excel. If you have used a spreadsheet before, or specifically worked
  372. with Microsoft Excel, then you already know the basics on using GridWorks. GridWorks
  373. supports a wealth of features. You can change fonts and colors, create borders, modify
  374. column and row sizes, copy and move rows, columns, ranges, formulas, and formats. You
  375. can also produce presentation quality reports. The best way to learn GridWorks is to go
  376. through the online help file included in the application. It will be time well spent.

  378. TIP: You can use the cut and paste functions of Windows 3.1 and 95 to move blocks of
  379. information to and from VirtualWord and GridWorks.

  385. Multilingual Spelling Checker           Check-Mate by Aztech New Media

  387. Check-Mate is a very powerful universal Windows 3.1 and 95 spelling checker. Check-Mate
  388. will work with any Windows' application that supports copy, cut and paste including Virtual
  389. Word, Gridworks, Pressworks and 1st Design. While in your Windows' application, copy or
  390. cut text to the clipboard. Run Check-Mate and click on the Spell Check. Once complete,
  391. copy your spell checked text back to the Windows' Clipboard to be pasted into your
  392. application's document. You can also type text directly into Check-Mate's input area to
  393. perform spelling checks, then copy to Clipboard to use in a Window's application.

  395. Check-Mate contains a state of the art, high efficiency 120,000 word American English
  396. spelling checker. (Most word processor contain only 50,000 to 75,000 words.) You can add
  397. new words to your personal dis\ctionary file while performing spelling checks. You can also
  398. manually create and edit this file with any word processor (or Windows' Notepad) that
  399. allows you to save a text file. While the application itself is only available in English, spell
  400. checker databases are included for French, German and Italian vocabularies.

  410. Word-Morpher adds a full featured thesaurus to any Windows program that supports copy,
  411. cut and paste including Virtual Word, Gridworks, Pressworks and 1st Design. The program
  412. works just like Check-Mate but is also useful as a stand alone utility allowing you to
  413. manually type words you wish checked. Word-Morpher can be used to improve your
  414. writing and word power. If you enjoy solving cross-word puzzles, Word-Morpher may
